Abstract
Higher levels of trash and contaminants make Indian cotton less attractive than imported cotton that forces to sell Indian cottons at discountedprices. Hence to improve contamination removal efficiency of Indian ginning industry, a seed cotton contamination cleaner from China wasadopted, studied its design features, its specific peculiarities over the indigenous pre-cleaners, tested, refined and examined its suitability forcontamination control in a modern Indian ginning industry. Longer contaminants like nylon strips, threads, longer clothe pieces etc. gotseparated in twinning section. Cotton leaf and small size foreign particles up to 3-4 mm were removed in the cotton leaf section. Contaminantslike plastic wrappers, small size threads and nylon strips could not be removed.
