Abstract
Feed palatability is a crucial factor in feed intake regulation. Physical and chemical characteristics of the feed influence the appetite (odour, taste,etc). Taste is one of the five senses that offer the awareness of their environment in particular food selection, to ruminants and other animals. Thesense of taste, which identifies basic tastes such as sweet, salt, bitter, sour and umami is considered predominant since it is the last sense throughwhich animals can obtain information about food before it is eaten. Taste additives can be one of the promising substances in enhancing thepalatability of feed under special circumstances for the animals and hence maintaining sustainable production. The results from variousexperiments seems to be inconsistent but positive effects like better digestibility of NDF and ADF (sweet taste) and positive impact on feed intakeand growth performance in growing animals for specific taste additive looks ...
