Abstract
The properties of groundnut pod and plant which plays crucial role in design of groundnut digger/harvester were determined during the study.The four popular groundnut varieties i.e. TAG-24, TAG-73, AK-159 and AK-303 were selected for the study. The results showed that the averagepod length, width and thickness for all the selected groundnut varieties were found 27.7 mm, 13.1 mm and 13.6 mm respectively. The weight ofsingle groundnut pod varied between 0.69 to 4.30 gm and average pod weight for four selected varieties was found 1.86 gm. The average valueof coefficient of friction of groundnut pod on M.S. sheet among all the selected groundnut varieties was found 0.245. The bulk density and angleof repose of groundnut pods were observed in the range of 0.381 to 0.526 gm/cm3 and 28.04
