Abstract
In this paper, an attempt has been made to analyze the growth and instability of fallow land in different districts of Madhya Pradesh. The 20years time series secondary data from 2000-01 to 2019-20 were used which have been collected from the published and unpublished recordsof Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India andDepartment of Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development, Govt of M.P. It was found from the study that the area under fallow landdeclined from 13.94 to 8.18 lakh ha during the period under study. Out of 51 districts of the state, 15 districts namely; Anuppur, Balaghat,Betul, Chhatarpur, Chhindwara, Dindori, Katani, Mandla, Rewa, Satna, Seoni, Shahdol, Sidhi, Tikamgarh and Umariya occupied 73.54 percent area of total fallow land of the state.
