Abstract
The independent parameters of media mixture machine play a dominant role in the design and development of media mixture machine for horticultural crop nursery. The media mixture machine was developed and the effects of independent parameters such as feed rate, pulverizing drum speed, mixing drum speed and frequency of sieve using response surface method. A statistical tool of the Box behnken design was used for analysis. It was found that the capacity of machine, particle size of media, degree of mixing, degree of metering and minimum power requirement were 96 kg/h, 1.97 mm, 93 %, 1.40 % and 0.850 kW, respectively at the feed rate 150 kg/h, pulverizing drum speed 350 rpm, frequency of sieve 500 No. of stokes/min and mixing drum speed 90 rpm respectively. The performance evaluation of the media mixture machine was validated by setting above condition in the media mixture machine.
