Abstract
The present study was conducted to find out cost and returns obtained from the indigenous cow milk production in Gondiya district of Maharashtra. Multistage sampling technique was used for this study. For this study Gondiya district was purposively selected. In Gondiya district twelve villages were selected randomly from the four tehsils in Gondiya district. The 60 sample farmers was selected from the twelve villages on the basis of milk production obtained by the farmers. The 60 farmers was categorized as small (only 1 cow), medium (2-3 cow), large (above 3 cow) on the basis of number of indigenous cow present. The tabular analysis was used for calculating the cost and returns obtained from the indigenous cow milk production. The maintenance cost at the overall level, per cow cost of maintenance was 52270.06. In total maintenance cost 83.26% cost was variable cost and 16.54% cost was on fixed capital.
