Abstract
India is the Fourth largest oilseed producing country in the world. It has about twenty one per cent of the world area under oilseed crop andcontributes ten per cent of the global oilseed production. The diverse agro ecological condition of country able to produce nine oilseed cropsnamely Groundnut, Soybean, Sunflower, Safflower, Sesame, Rapeseed & Mustard, Niger, Castor and Linseed, In India major oilseedsgrowing states are Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, UttarPradesh, Haryana and Telangana.Maharashtra rank fourth in oilseed production at national level.
