Abstract
The experiment was undertaken to study the combining ability for yield and its attributing traits in okra. Information on the magnitude ofcombining ability was obtained for fruit yield per plant and its related components following line x tester mating design involving 10 diversevarieties (6 lines and 4 testers). The 10 parents, their 24 resultant F1s and one check were sown in a Randomized Block Design with threereplications. Combining ability analysis revealed that the magnitude of non-additive variance was higher for fruit yield per plant and itscontributing traits indicating the predominant role of non-additive gene action in the inheritance of the traits. The parents Parbhani Kranti,Arka Anamika, Azad Bhendi, Kashi Laleema, and Punjab-7, VROR-159 were exhibited GCA effect for yield and yield components. Thehybrids Parbhani Kranti x Kashi Laleema followed by Arka Anamika x Kashi Laleema, Parbhani Kranti x Azad Bhendi, Parbhani Kra...
