Abstract Root traits such as fine root diameter, fresh root mass, root length, root number, root volume and root density are considered useful traits for improving plant productivity under drought conditions. Therefore, present study carried out at Sorghum Improvement Project, M.P.K.V., Rahuri to estimate variability, correlation and path analysis of key root traits with grain yield in rabi Sorghum. In present study it is reported that Genotype RSV 2106 reported significantly highest grain yield per plant (48.5 g/plant) followed by Phule Suchitra (44.0 g/plant), CRS57 (42.5 g/plant) and BJV125 (41.5 g/plant). Phenotypic Coefficient of Variation for all characters under study is higher that Genotypic coefficient of variation. Root length at maturity reported highest heritability (84.91%) coupled with high genetic advance (19.56%) followed by Fresh root mass at maturity. Grain yield per plant shows highly significant and positive correlation wit...
