Abstract
Maize has potential usage as food to feed and also finds place in industrial applications as well. The diverging value chain prospects of thiscrop made economic significance in all the maize producing agrarian countries around the world. The Northern Leaf Blight is one of themajor diseases affecting the field maize yield ranging from 40 -70 per cent and for the sweet corn variant, the range is upto 20 per centcausing colossal damage to the farmers. An attempt has been made using various machine learning tools to identify and classify the diseaseat the earliest for taking up necessary plant protection measures at crucial stages to prevent crop loss. The evaluation metrics for differentmachine learning tools are presented in order to compare them for train and test accuracy classifying the Northern Leaf Blight affectedleaves from the healthy ones.
