Abstract
In Cauvery Delta Zone, farmers facing lot of hurdles to get involved in the production of food grain crops, due to the dispute in watersharing over the cauvery river between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and failure of North East Monsoon have resulted in water scarcity in thiszone. Hence, farmers are looking after some other lucrative crops over paddy. Here, in this research the difficulties faced by the farmers inraising the crop were studied. A list of problem faced by the farmers was identified and the intensity of problem was measured in wholeCauvery delta zone; district wise and according to the nature of cropping pattern. The results revealed that inadequacy of water for cropcultivation, delay in receiving insurance, low returns, adverse weather condition and non availability of labourers were the main problemsperceived by delta farmers.
