Abstract
It is necessary to have an understanding of crop water requirements (CWR) of various crops grown under irrigation especially in arid andsemi-arid regions. This will then enable efficient use of water and better irrigation practices like scheduling as the supply of water throughrainfall is limited in these areas. The crop water needs of the major crops grown in Ahmednagar district is calculated using the FAOCROPWAT model using meteorological parameters. To minimize the excessive use of accessible water resources, it has become mandatoryto define proper methods for development, management and planning of water resources. Proper modification in conventional irrigationpractices helps boost water use efficiency. For proper Irrigation management, CROPWAT is a best model suggested by FAO. CROPWATmodel integrates with climate crop and soil information for estimation of crop water requirement (CWR), reference evapotranspiration(ET0), crop evap...
