Abstract
Rice crop improvement for grain yield is an imperative and incessant breeding programme. Modification of plant architecture is a novel wayto improve yield. One such plant architecture trait to manipulate is plant biomass as grain yield is the product of biomass and harvest index. In the current study, altered biomass mutant of rice was used in developing population for improving grain yield. Parent progeny regressionwas studied between F4 and F5 of N22 x N22-CC-M4-HT-1333 to understand the inheritance of dry biomass, number of tillers, number ofproductive tillers and grain yield. The results showed significant regression and intergeneration correlation for the traits contributingaltered biomass and grain yield.
