Abstract
In order to develop integrated solid waste management strategy for agriculture product producers and traders association (APPTA) marketwaste of Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, an attempt was made for composting. Aerobic heap method was adopted with differenttreatments. Maturity of compost was assessed by qualitative (starch iodine test and sulphide test) as well as quantitative parameters (phytotoxicity assay, humification, NO3, NH3 content) at frequent interval. In this study it was found that matured market waste compost (removingthe non-decomposable waste, shredding the waste, turning compost heap at weekly interval) can be obtained after ninety days of initiation ofcomposting (DAI)
