Abstract
The present study was carried during 2018-2019 in two taluks of Kolar district in Karnataka state to know the extent of livelihooddiversification practiced by farmers. One hundred and fifty farmers (50 marginal farmers, 50 small farmers and 50 big farmers) wereinterviewed using a pre-tested schedule. The results revealed that a larger number of farmers (46.70%) belong to moderately diversifiedcategory, whereas 30.60 per cent of farmers were belonging highly diversified category and the remaining 22.70 per cent of the farmerswere belonging less diversified category. It was also found a larger number of big farmers were belonging to highly diversified category,whereas a greater proportion of marginal and small farmers were belonging to moderately diversified category of livelihooddiversification.Further, it was observed that there existed variation in the extent of diversification practiced among marginal, small and bigfarmers
