Abstract
Supplementary fertilizers are applied as a need of today to fulfil the requirement of the enhanced and better quality crop production andproductivity. The additional dose of fertilizer may be harmful to soil health if it is not applied in appropriate proportion. The study wasundertaken to examine the district wise performance of fertilizers consumption growth and proportion of N, P and K in WesternMaharashtra region for last 14 years.Total consumption of N, P, K fertilizers were found 684707, 356209, 265288 and 1306204 t /year, respectively in Western Maharashtraregion wherein it was minimum in Ahmednagar (456 kg/ha/year) and maximum in Nashik (1013 kg/ha/year). Significant increasing trend oftotal fertilizer consumption (kg/ha) has been observed in Western Maharashtra region (2.52) in which Satara having minimum (1.43) andmaximum (6.80) in Nandurbar with high variation.
