Abstract
The current study used F2 generations of two cowpea crosses to determine transgressive segregants of important quantitative traits. Duringthe Kharif season 2019-20, the experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm, Department of Agricultural Botany, College ofAgriculture, Latur. The experimental materials comprised of parents, F1 and F2. Measurements of pod length, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, test weight, and seed yield per plant were taken for transgressive segregants. Except for pod length per plant andnumber of seeds per pod in GC-6 x LC-1 and number of seeds per pod in GDVC-2 x LC-1, desirable transgressive segregants were observedfor all traits in both crosses. The number of pods per plant had the largest proportion of transgresants. high frequencies of desirabletransgressive segregants in F2 generation for yield and its component traits indicates that there was a enough scope to bring in beneficialalle...
