Abstract
In the present investigation, a complete set of 37 genotypes (eight parents and their 28 crosses along with one standard check Shardadeveloped through half diallel mating design) excluding reciprocal were planted in randomized block design replicated twice at theExperimental Farm, Department of Agricultural Botany, College of Agriculture, Latur during Rabi 2019-2020 to estimate heterosis insafflower. Among the parents, GMU-2720, GMU-1339 and PBN -96 were the best performing parents for seed yield per plant and itscomponent attributes. Significant and positive heterosis was observed for majority of the yield attributing characters. High expression ofheterosis for seed yield per plant was associated with high heterotic effects for yield attributing components, viz., number of seeds percapitulum and 100 seeds weight. The crosses, GMU-2720 x GMU-3423, GMU-1339 x PBN-96, GMU-2720 x EC-757665, GMU-1339 xGMU-3423 and PBN-96 x NARI-6 appeared...
