Abstract
A new developed solar greenhouse dryer (5m x 3m x 2.3m) consisting of drying chamber covered with 200 micron UV stabilized plasticssheet with the provision of inlet air and outlet opening was used to evaluate its techno-economics analysis using different economic indicatorssuch as Net Present Value, Benefit Cost Ratio, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Pay Back Period. The net present value for solar dryer wasRs. 2.272 lakhs. The B:C ratio, pay back period and IRR were worked out as 1.3, 1 yr, and 94% respectively. It was clear from all the fourfinancial criteria, the greenhouse drying is a good proposition for drying of agricultural materials and is technically and economicallysuitable for drying and dehydration of coriander leaves and the use of this dryer led to considerable reduction in drying time in comparisonto traditional open sun drying.
