Abstract
India is a country with 55 per cent of the population based on agriculture for living but only 4 percent of freshwater is available. To overcomewater scarcity for irrigation and imcrease the irrigated land area, Central Government has implemented a new scheme, Pradhan MantriKrishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) on 1stJuly 2015. This scheme emphasis on improving farm productivity and better utilization of resourcesavailable in the country. This study examined the levels of participation of respondents in Pradhan Mantri Krishi SinchayeeYojana and therelationship between profile characteristics and participation. An ex-post- facto design of research was adopted. The majority of respondentshave medium level of participation in Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) scheme followed by high and low level ofparticipation.
