Abstract
In the aspect vegetable production and marketing the district South 24 Parganas play a pivotal role in the state economy. In this study effort was made to lay out the clarity in entire costing scenario along with the profit in terms production in respect to major vegetable of this district, namely brinjal, pumpkin, chilli, cucumber, cabbage, cauliflower, french bean, ridge gourd, bitter gourd, broccoli, tomato, ladies finger and knolkhol. Cost of cultivation in brinjal was higher than that of other cultivation cost of vegetables. Total labour cost per acre was highest in brinjal cultivation followed by cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, french bean, chilli, cucumber, bitter gourd, pumpkin, ridge gourd, tomato, ladies finger and knolkhol.
