Abstract
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important food crop for more than half of world and is popularly called as global grain. Aromatic rice constitute special group of rice that is regarded as best in quality and usually used for special dish preparation. The present study was conducted to investigate genetic variability among fifty aromatic short and long grain rice genotypes. The test genotypes were evaluated using randomized block design for eight quantitative and eleven qualitative traits. All the studied traits varied significantly among the test genotypes. Phenotypic coefficient of variation estimates were slightly higher than their corresponding genotypic coefficient of variation estimates for all traits indicating less influence of environment on the traits.
