Abstract
Evaluation of eleven local germplasm of coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) of Odisha for quality of tender nut was carried out in the experimental plot of AICRP on Palms (OUAT) at Bhubaneswar in randomized block design replicated thrice during 2017-18. Among the eleven local germplasm, Local Giant exhibited its superiority over other genotypes in majority of fruit characters at tender nut stage (7 month) in terms of largest fruit breadth (19.20 cm), circumference (59.03 cm), maximum whole nut weight (3.295 kg), volume of water (452 ml), TSS (7.62 0 Brix), total sugar content (6.93 %) and ascorbic acid content (7.28 mg/100ml). The maximum nut length at tender nut stage (26.10 cm) was observed in Narangi. Maximum sodium content (50.36 ppm) and potassium content (2804 ppm) were estimated in Tinisera and Dhanei respectively
