Abstract
Seed moisture content is a key segment that decides seed quality. Drying of seeds reduces their moisture content to levels suitable for storage. The experiment was conducted at Department of Seed Science and Technology, TNAU, Coimbatore during 2019 with a view to study the impact of various mechanical drying methods on groundnut seed germination and seedling vigour. Six drying methods viz., i) Sun ii) Shade iii) Solar iv) Thin layer v) Cabinet (Tray) and vi) Hot air oven drying were incorporated into the test treatment factors with four replications utilizing a completely randomized design. Seed moisture content (%), germination (%), speed of emergence, seedling dry weight (g), seedling vigour index, electrical conductivity (dSm-1 ) and disease infection (%) were recorded.
