Abstract
The study was conducted among 187 pig farmers (113 male and 74 female ) randomly through pre-tested questionnaires to find out various constraints encountered by pig farmers in adoption of improved management practices those who visited institute pig research unit at ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Research Centre, Ranchi during 2014 to 2017. Socio- economic status of the pig farmers revealed that most of the farmers can read, write and were studied up to primary level. Most of the farmers had living joint families (79.14 %) and only 20.86 % lived in nuclear family. Family size with 6 or more members was taken as large family and found maximum in number. Land holding capacity varied from less than 0.5 hectare (16.58 %, lowest) to 0.5 to 1.0 hectare (33.69 %, highest).
