Abstract
Laboratory studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of seed priming on physiological parameters of Black cumin (Nigella Sativa L.) seeds. Seeds were soaked in different concentrations of various priming agents such as GA3, KNO3, Salicylic acid, Metarhizium anisopliae, Pseudomonas fluorescence and Trichoderma viride solution for four hours. The results revealed that seeds primed with 2 per cent Metarhizium anisopliae recorded increased physiological parameters such as speed of emergence, percentage germination, root length, shoot length, dry matter production, vigour index I and II in Black cumin (Nigella Sativa L.) seeds. Next to Metarhizium anisopliae, 15 per cent Pseudomonas fluorescence and 0.2 per cent KNO3 proved their superiority over absolute control, i.e. dry seeds and hydro primed seeds.
