Abstract
An investigation was carried out to compare the effect of four different formulations viz., alginate based (AB), fluid bed dryer (FBD) based, lignite (LT) and liquid (LQ) formulations on survivability of an agriculturally important microbial consortium (Azotobacter chroococcum + Bacillus megaterium + Pseudomonas fluorescens) as single, dual and triple inoculants. After 180 days of storage, the highest survival of Azotobacter chroococcum recorded of log10 9.64 cells/ml in dual combination with Pseudomonas fluorescens in alginate based formulation and the highest survival of Bacillus megaterium recorded of log10 9.26 cells/ml as a single inoculant in liquid formulation whereas, Pseudomonas fluorescens recorded highest survival of log10 9.68 cells/ g as a single inoculant in alginate formulation.
