Abstract
This study aims to know the problems faced by the farmers due to the shortage of labours during peak crop periods like sowing, weeding,harvesting etc in the production of Ragi, Groundnut and also to analyze the strategies adopted by the farmers to overcome the shortage oflabours and adopting the use of farm machines like cultivator, MB plough, rotovator, weeder, seed cum fertilizer drill, power sprayer, minitractor, power tiller, grass cutter, power hole digger, thresher, trencher, mulcher, transplanter etc during peak crop cultivation practices.Random sample of 87 families were selected and the study was conducted in Sasamaru village, Sira (T), Tumakuru (D), Karnataka. The farmerswere using different strategies like giving higher wages, all basic facilities, pick and drop, using family members as labours, hiring laboursfrom other nearby places, shifting towards crop cultivation which requires less labours and finally adopting the us...
