Abstract
It is evident that the changing spatial boundaries necessitate a redefinition of the concept of the city. In the architectural context, this transformation can be observed in various notions, including the city, space, place, environment, and context. From a sociological perspective, cities that facilitate a collective environment can establish a new collective city without the need for virtual spaces. The physical and sociological meanings of many urban spaces, deemed old or real, are likely to be substituted in the course of this transformation. This study examines the changes in spatial meaning during the adoption of the new concept of the right to the city, by analyzing the film Pleasantville through the lens of Siegfried Kracauer's views.
