Abstract
This study examined the relationship between financial leverage and financial performance of listed Oil and Gas firms in Nigeria; for the period of 2011-2020 (10years). The goal of the paper is to examine the relationship between financial leverage {proxied with Short Term Debt Ratio (STDR), Long Term Debt Ratio (LTDR) and Total Debt Ratio (TDR)} and financial performance {proxied with Return on Assets (ROA)} of listed Oil and Gas firms in Nigeria. The study made used of panel data sourced from ten (10) oil and gas companies listed in the Nigeria stock exchange. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation matrix, panel unit root test, Pedroni panel cointegration test and Panel Multiple Regression Model (PMRM). The findings revealed that Short Term Debt Ratio (STDR) have significant effect on Return on Assets (ROA) while Long Term Debt Ratio (LTDR), Total Debt Ratio (TDR) and Debt to Equity Ratio (DTER) does not ha...
