Abstract
In this study, we seek to understand the meanings attributed by children undergoing cancer treatment to the pedagogical care provided in a hospital in the city of Feira de Santana - BA. The qualitative - descriptive research methodology is adopted. The analyzes indicate that pedagogical care, from the perspective of humanized work through playfulness and schooling, transports the child beyond what illness gives him/her: it provides well - being and learning opportunities , of talking about the will to continue living and the hope of returning to normal life. It was evident that, with the possibility of reflecting on what they are experiencing and breaking away from the condition of patient, the child assumes the condition of an active and participative subject.
