Abstract
The paper traces the universal characteristics of the fairy tale. It comments on the variable model of the genre’s reception and rationalization. I develop the idea that through the process of reception and interpretation of the folklore fairy tales, lower-grade pupils are introduced to the complex layers of both their national and universal cultural legacy – artifacts, symbols, heroes, rituals, traditions, rites of passage, mores and values.
