Abstract
World Health Organization has recognized the importanceof nutrition as an indicator in the Millennium DevelopmentGoal (MDG) focusing on the reduction of maternal andunder-5-years mortality, especially in the developingcountries1. Maternal dietary micronutrient intake isassociated with neonatal anthropometry even in womennot at risk of malnutrition hence further research isnecessary to determine optimal micronutrient intake inall pregnant women with different body mass indices2.Appropriate information regarding nutrition promoteshealthy eating3. Poor or deficient knowledge about healthand nutrition on the part of health professionals isreflected in lack of identification of risk factors fornutritional deficiency diseases. This also plays animportant role in insufficient use of dietary componentwhile managing patients recovering from illness, leadingto increased morbidity and mortality
