Abstract
The historical and conceptual evolution of French-language sub-Saharan literatures is contrasted. They have been described, since their birth within the framework of the colonies of French Equatorial and West Africa, at the beginning of the 20th century, as a unified regional literature in the proximity of French literature. This global regional characterization was to continue at the time of independence (1960) and the creation of sovereign states.
