Abstract
A Round Table discussion entitled “Botev and Bulgarian Literature†(Veliko Tarnovo, 12 October 2018), dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Bulgarian revolutionary and poet, was organized by the Department of Bulgarian Literature and the Faculty of Modern Languages Library at St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo. Papers and presentations were delivered by literary scholars from The University of Veliko Tarnovo, The New Bulgarian University, St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and by high school teachers in Bulgaria. The discussions were centered on issues related to the historical and cultural heritage of Bulgarian people, Botev’s vision of Europe and his esthetic views. Special attention was given to Botev’s historical reception as a national poet and a political figure.
