Abstract
This article’s aim is to make the reader familiar with the views of some of the most prominent Bulgarian linguists concerning our orthographic reform in 1945. The Bulgarian press presents very interesting debates, disputes and discussions about the necessary and not so necessary changes in Bulgarian orthography. Some of the publications are in response to other publications and opinions. The preparations for the reform began many years before its completion and before the government of the Fatherland Front came to power. The reform was made in six months, but its practical implementation took more than 20 years to complete.
