Abstract
The present paper focuses on the contextualizing role of the personal pronouns in transpositions. The person indicating devices are viewed as sociolinguistic variables performing functions like reflecting the modal and affective attitude of the speaking participants, their emotional involvement or detachment from what is being said, etc. A special emphasis is put on the contextualizing function of grammatical elements: they not only help us to express what we mean but also help us interpret what is being meant by the others.
