Abstract
A country sign, also known as “country brand”, is a sign used by many countries nowadays. However, it is not properly recognised as an object of industrial property yet. This article examines the country sign in order to attempt to define it, analyse its importance and determine its legal nature. By comparing it to other objects of industrial property that share some similarities with this sign, it will be determined whether it is possible to subsume it into any of them or, if impossible, whether it is necessary to seek its legal recognition and protection.
