Abstract
Vitiligo is a relatively common skin disease characterised by development of patchy depigmented macules. The destruction of melanocytes is the cause of depigmented maculae. Although the cause is unknown, various theories such as the autoimmune, autocytotoxic, and neural hypotheses have been proposed. Lichen sclerosus is a progressive, inflammatory dermatosis characterized with porcelain white sclerotic plaques most commonly in the anogenital area of postmenopausal women. The etiology is unknown; autoimmune, genetic, hormonal and infectious factors are suggested. Lichen sclerosus and vitiligo are two depigmenting disorders which may occur separately or rarely, in combination. Their association may seem logical because both these disorders are characterized by the suspicion of an autoimmune pathogenesis.
