Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) during attack period on anatomic and functional changes of the heart, and mainly on the right heart. Our study was carried out with 30 patients over the age of 30 who were admitted to the chest diseases outpatient clinic of our hospital, with a diagnosis of COPD acute exacerbation, no known additional systemic disease and cardiac disease, and 30 healthy individuals with similar age and gender characteristics and without known additional respiratory, cardiac and systemic diseases. Demographic characteristics, physical examination findings, respiratory function test results, and echocardiography findings of the patients were reviewed.
