Abstract
In the absence of respiratory system involvement, COVID-19 patients developing ARDS can clinically mimic other diseases including acute leukemia due to presence of atypical lymphocytes in peripheral blood smear and increased serum lactate dehydrogenase and serum uric acid levels. Herein, we report a case who was initially suspected to have acute leukemia based on his atypical symptoms without any respiratory system involvement and deranged laboratory parameters and finally, diagnosed with COVID-19. Our patient presented with fever, myalgia, gum bleed, and petechiae. On clinical and laboratory evaluation, he was suspected to have acute leukemia based on markedly deranged serum lactate dehydrogenase and serum uric acid and the presence of atypical cells in peripheral blood smear and bone marrow.
