Abstract
Abstract: This studyis a historical vision, through which we explain the spread of diseases, epidemics and famines in the Maghreb during the 19th century AD, which concerns the Constantine region, which historical sources recorded for us about the severity of the famines that I knew, especially in the years 1866-1868 AD. Because of pandemics such as the French drought, during whose reign the effects of famine and epidemics aggravated, as the epidemicaffected the poor groups more and cause dmiserable conditions, and itsse verity varied according to regions, and Constantine was the mostaffected, especially after the increase in grain prices, and food ran out of stores, and the people of Constantine resorted to eating carrion, This is what led to the spread of diseases such as cholera, typhus, etc., and acts of violence and looting by the people multiplied, which increased the severity of poverty in Constantine.
