Abstract
Social media platforms are omnipresent, powerful, and play a vital part in the digital world of mankind. They are a major source of news, entertainment, and transcend social and local boundaries. Students use social media in their day to day life to communicate with friends, family, and teachers. The study proposed to know the awareness of social network among undergraduate students where in their knowledge, usage, and frequency of postings done on social media was found out. Whatsapp and YouTube were the top two apps that the students had knowledge of and consequently they were used more. Although 46.50 per cent of students knew about Instagram, only 23 per cent have actually used it. The frequency of checking the social media for updates seem to be more than four times a day, as indicated by 52 per cent of the students.
