Abstract
This article is a theoretical review that aims to visualize the functioning and impact that early intervention programs have on self-regulation of learning in university students in their first semesters, since the majority of learning problems at the university level are: dropout university and repetition, affecting student academic performance, a problem generated mostly by non-cognitive academic factors, such as procrastination, lack of motivation and insufficient basic knowledge about learning strategies. Research supported by articles, which are found on the scientific information platforms of the last four decades, allowing us to demonstrate the origin of self-regulation of learning and its evolution, articles that allow us to analyze how repetition, student dropout and academic performance in university students from different countries and various universities around the world.
