Abstract
The present paper discusses the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the USA, made official in 2014, seeking to analyze its dynamics and the challenges that hinder its effective normalization. In order to do so, it discusses the motivations that led to this process and determined the resumption of diplomatic ties, which had been broken since the beginning of the 1960s, replacing, albeit partially, the conflicting politics that had prevailed in this relationship. It then analyzes the perceptions and main actions since the announcement of such resumption and discusses the demands presented by each party for an effective normalization.
