Abstract
In Ottoman poetry, the connection between social life and literature became more evident in the 18th century. An analysis of the literary genres would reveal an increase in the number of historical poems, odes, and songs. An analysis of the content would demonstrate that the works of the Ottoman poets bore witnesses to that period. The historical poems were like historical documents that narrated important events of the period. Literature and history are two inseparable fields. This union is of great importance in learning about the past. However, literature reflects the experiences of the period through the eyes of the poet. The present study aimed to provide information about the princes and sultans of the period based on the historical poems of 18th century Ottoman poets.
