Abstract
The main objective of this research was to propose the design of a useful and applicable methodology according to the requirements of ISO 31000: 2018 for risk management focused on the health care waste management process that takes place in any institution that provides Health services. All this is based on the main theoretical approaches in this regard. A qualitative methodology was applied, bibliographic and descriptive typology, using the analytical-synthetic method. Within the analysis of results, a standard sanitary waste management process was defined with its related activities. The main risks that they could generate were identified. From there, the risks were classified and evaluated through the application of the risk matrix.
