Abstract
The insurance industry is critical to the financial stability of a financial system. This is because its liabilities are long-term in nature, whereas its assets have a short term average maturity. Insurance is an important part of the financial system. Financial services constitute an important component of the financial system. Financial services through the network of financial institutions, financial markets and financial instruments, serve the needs of individuals, institutions and corporates. The Financial System includes securities, banking, insurance, mutual funds, pension funds, and provident funds. The growth of the insurance industry is inextricably linked to economic growth.
