Abstract
In civil engineering ¸ piles have an important role in the stability of engineering structures such as high rising structures bridge supporting piers and other engineering structures located in the soft bed streams with high amount of foundation down throw or low capacity of bearing soil loads. In some cases ¸e.g.¸ for the bridge piers ¸ the pile is under the pressure of the simultaneous vertical and lateral loads. Thus ¸for designing the piles ¸you van not depend only on the design of the vertical or lateral loads alone. T his study deals with the effect of the vertical load on the side interaction of the pile under the combined loads in the bedded soils. For thus purpose ¸ piles with different physical specifications in two- layered soils with a combination of clay and sand soils have been considered under simultaneous vertical and lateral loads.
